Comfort food for a cold, wet day: porridge and pears

Just a short post on what I think might well be the ultimate comfort food - and no, it's not unhealthy. This tasty pear porridge takes all of 5 minutes to cook, making it perfect for a cold, frosty morning or a soothing breakfast-for-dinner meal on a dark winter's eve.

Ingredients:

1 tin pear halves in fruit juice
1 sachet quick cook oats (I used Oats-So-Simple Original flavour)
Splash of milk
Few drops of vanilla essence

Chop the pear halves into smaller pieces (you can do this while they're still in the can). Add all of the ingredients into a non-stick pan, including the fruit juice from the tinned pears. Cook on a medium heat for 4 or 5 minutes, until the porridge is ready and the pear chunks are heated through. Serve.

(I ate this for dinner, wearing my pjs, snuggled up on the sofa. Bliss.)
