Last week - as I sat spooning sadly at my cafeteria soup - my co-worker unwrapped a glorious pitta/sandwich creation; stuffed with falafel, hummus, salad, hot peppers and tahini, and wafting mouthwatering smells over to my desk. Stricken with a severe case of food envy, I went and got my own the very next day...
OK - so it may not be the prettiest thing you've ever seen...
...but it was definitely prettty delicious. YUM
The soft whole-wheat pitta, crunchy salad, juicy pickled chili peppers, earthy hummus, and cool, smooth tahini were the perfect backdrop for the fantastic falafel: hot* and flavourful, with crisp outer shells hiding moist (and surprisingly green) interiors.
Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a change from the ubiquitous Eat/Itsu/Pret lunchtime offerings.
*As in, heated up - these weren't some new kind of spicy falafel, despite Pilpel's chili logo...
